And While I'm At It

2007-11-29

I might as well link Free Rice as well.  Seems cool enough.  Learn words and feed people, sounds good to me.  I was hovering somewhere around a 36 myself.

That's What Wives Are For!

2007-11-29

I found this article on digg.  I found it amusing in the, "wow, that's wrong" sort of way.  Thankfully, we've evolved a bit past this.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

2007-11-21

Whether Thanksgiving is "your thing" or not,  happy holidays to you all.  I'm sure if we all clap and believe real hard that Dangerboy exists, he will come and write a post for us about how magical the D.C. congress was.  Come on, clap everybody.  Clap!

Well That Was Random

2007-11-13

I had a friend comment that our blog, topically speaking, was kind of random, which I must concede, is true.  Believe it or not (if incredulouness is your thing), we actually have a plan.  So, we've been inspired by this guy, Tycho, you may have heard of him (but probably you haven't).  We are in love with this guy's writing style, it's witty, it's verbose, it's bombastic, it's awesome.  Moreover, the way he writes captures something that we see present in our own interactions.  So that was our goal in starting this blog, to write in such a way that captures the ecentricty that exists in the subculture that is our circle of close personal friends.  I'm not sure if everyone "get's it,"  but once you do, oh, the synergies that will be leveraged.

The randomness of individual topics ends up being a sort of side effect of our master topic, that topic, being "spirtual stuff."  It's kind of a big bucket.  We try not to tie ourselves necessarily to a specific religious context.  Yes, we're baha'is, that obviously colors our opinions, but we're trying not to make this a "baha'i thing."  Okay, so many of our friends are baha'is, so I guess we are trying to make this a baha'i-like thing, a baha'i-able thing perhaps, but without it being called a baha'i thing... You see, it's like being cool.  You can't try to be cool either you are or you aren't.  Bad analogies aside, we could easily talk about culturally baha'i things like: "Have you done ruhi book 2 yet?"  We could even switch up the "flava" a little bit to attract a wider audience like: "Yo, son, have you seent book 2 yet?  It's off the chain."  But still, we wouldn't be deviating much from our core audience.  So, instead, we're trying to approach spirituallity from a more general cultural perspective.  It's like Britney Spears meets the Dalai Lama and they decided to read Poe together (again, it's not about the analogies).  If the topics seem a little random, it's because they are.  We don't have the luxury of being able to talk about video games every post, with an occasional aside on movies like our inspiration Tycho does.  Instead, we have to look for spiritual themes in daily life.  It really is quite the exercise in creative writing, but again, the synergies, and the leveraging.  Totally worth it in our opinions.  Oh, and we're trying to promote discussion, so feel free to leave more comments.  Go on, don't be scared.  We dare you.
